Urbanization and economic development has resulted in rapid changes in diet and lifestyles. Saliva is one of the most important factors in determination and regulation of human oral health status. Saliva is studied by researchers to evaluate the oral health status. The aim of present study was to record and compare the effect of consumption of various food articles on the pH of saliva. This case study is also aimed at comparing the effectiveness of a commercial mouthwash against an innovative herbal mouthwash in regulation of after effects of food consumption. Baseline pH measurement was carried out for 15 selected individual’s saliva sample. Further study was carried out to see the effect of herbal mouthwash on oral pH after consumption of beverage and food and smoking. For all tests saliva samples were collected at specific time intervals in sterile tubes. pH of the saliva samples was further analyzed in comparison with the baseline values. Our herbal mouth wash exhibited better pH correction potential. It was concluded through our preliminary study that innovative herbal mouthwash was more efficient over commercial product.
